If you've been following the Wicked Metal site since earlier this year you may remember the last time I covered this particular artist. FEED THEM DEATH execute an avant-garde take on the death/grind scene that is infectious to hear. VOID, the sole member, unleashed this latest assault on 2nd November, 2020.
Upon first listen you are bombarded by a decidedly ominous whirlwind of noise so damn crunchy that I was afraid my very bones were shattering. I know I stated it was death/grind - but the avant-garde is most present on this offering. Full of drone, spooky piano and more than a tinge of hardcore punk - sole member, VOID, is pushing past any preconceived notions about what his sound is/should sound like.
VOID is still raging down the path that society as it has come to be, is quite plainly, shit. We had the theme of a ever-watchful government and punishing the individual person on the previous record, and with FOCD the shift in focus is towards hatred of generations past for allowing their children to be born into this world where tragedy is abundant and happiness is mythical in nature. And again, as I previously mentioned, no matter the subject Feed Them Death's newest is an all-out crusher of a record. Oh, and gotta mention, that is some sick cover art once again.
I'm giving For Our Culpable Dead a 9/10
