Gravehuffer - NecroEclosion

Band: Gravehuffer

Album: NecroEclosion

Label: Black Doomba Records

Genre: Crust/Grind/Death/Thrash

Release Date: 15 January 2021

With an earsplitting blend of crust, thrash and grind, Gravehuffer have a true whirlwind of an experience to offer fans of all shit that's heavy. Despite living in the northern Arkansas area for several years I had not heard of these Joplin based devils till this year. Better late than never in the case of Gravehuffer as this record is their best yet!

With each member of the band participating in the writing of the tracks there is a lot of flavor to dig into. With the track Stingray you get superb fast-paced guitar licks from Ritchie, then on Sights To The Sky we're treated to some down tuned sludge laden doom! As difficult as I think it is to figure out what style they're going for, the band finds it hard to describe themselves as well. In the end if something

The band lineup is Ritchie Randall on guitars/vocal, Travis McKenzie on main vox, Mike Jilge on bass and Jay Willis on drums/vocals. As you can hear from Ghost Dance, Gravehuffer utilize their multi-vocalist aspect incredibly well crafting a ghoulish choir to haunt your nightmares. NecroEclosion also sees a couple of guests on the record with Dan "Chewy" Mongrain (Vovoid) guesting with a solo on Sights To The Sky, and Curran Murphy (Annihilator, Nevermore) providing a thrashing with his guitar on track Smaller Than Death.

Despite hailing from the infamous "bible belt" of America, Gravehuffer have crafted a truly wicked record in NecroEclosion. I'm giving NecroEclosion a 9/10.
