After more than a three year wait, the extreme death/grind/crust project Henry Kane is returning with a 19 track record stuffed with heaviness. Henry Kane is the baby of Johnny Pettersson (all instruments and all mixing/mastering work), and his solo effort has matured while still maintaining that edge that was seen on the debut, Den förstörda människans rike.
"En Evig Plågan" kicks off the record with a rage infused song that is the Henry Kane we've grown to love. Track two, however, we see a somewhat new side with a more doom ridden song in "Tidens Tand." What we see throughout the record is variation just such as this - crust ferocity laden with the tenancies of doom metal.
The title track for the record is the main highlight in my opinion. On "Age Of The Idiot" we hear a sinister opening rich with a gripping atmosphere. After about a minute of building up the feeling, Pettersson rains down with his fury. Stuffed with exceptional riffs, stabs on the kit and some wicked aura - this song is the perfect example of the homogenization he has crafted between his earlier crust and doom. The evolution of Henry Kane is first-class, and I'm here for it.
