Band: Reptilium
Album: Adrenochromacy
Label: Unsigned
Genre: Brutal Death Metal
The first time I listened to South American brutal death band Reptilium was on their EP Conspiranoic, and I'm not gonna lie, it felt like it wasn't all it could be. There were a couple surprises, sure, but for the most part it felt extremely repetitious. Adrenochromacy fixes most, if not all, of my previous distaste from the first release from Reptilium.
Adrenochromacy is set to release on the 17th of April, and it is a 4 song EP as well. The band is still absolutely a DIY project, with all engineering, recording and producing duties handled by Nirah and Cecrops (guitar/vocalist and drummer). For a DIY release, it is wonderfully nasty, with goblin like vocals screeching out at you. Reminds me a tad of the goblin like screams you get more and more often from Travis Ryan out of Cattle Decapitation (love them or hate them.)
There is some great riff patterns throughout this new EP, especially on track 4 "Massive Abduction," and the intensity and speed is neck-breakingly fast. In all, this second EP from Reptilium is showing us that the band knows exactly what they're about now, and the world should be watching.
