Band: Roadrash
Album: RoadRash
Label: Metal Assault Records
Genre: Speed Metal
Vancouver speed metallers Roadrash have already unleashed a number of EPs and an LP, and their latest self titled RoadRash is much the same of what long time listeners can expect. What I mean by that is some straight-up fun fucking speed metal goodness.
The EP has two brand new songs on it and was released February, 21st. Kicking myself a bit for not having gotten around to them sooner, but hell, glad I'm given the chance to now. These boys kick it hard, fast and loud as hell with guitars shredding left and right and a pace from drummer Sadek that will force you to head bang along with the songs.
I will say, the production on this latest EP has come a lot further than previous releases. The mixing is excellent, and you can hear each layer that Roadrash has to offer. It's got some blues ridden guitar moments, and hard driving beats that are catchy as all get out. By the end of track one you'll be hollerin "SIX HUNDRED SIXTY SIX" along with vocalist David Hammer.
The band as a whole barely takes themselves seriously, with lyrics that are almost slapstick at times and downright waggish. That mentality is also vividly present in their music video which dropped for the track "666 MPH." Now if you think that this statement is a bad thing, I don't intend it that way! It's refreshing for a band that creates what is at it's core beer drinking, table jumping, head banging, whiskey chugging, body slammin, shark wrestling music to just say, "fuck it," and have a fun time with it! I'll be looking forward to the next full length from Roadrash.
