The Scum - Dead Eyes

Band: The Scum

Album: Dead Eyes

Label: Wild Noise Productions

Genre: OSDM

The Scum, hailing from Colombia, haven't been around for all that long yet, but they already have one EP and a full length that welcomed good reviews from critics and fans. With Ashen being released back in 2018 it's high time we hear some new material. While this may not be a new full length, make no mistake that the forthcoming two track EP from The Scum is as nasty as they come. Permeating with sounds of the OSDM renaissance, thanks in part to an appearance from Dave Ingram (Benediction), Dead Eyes is a powerful little EP.

Title track "Dead Eyes" begins with a heavy as hell riff from Santiago and Leandro, followed by Mauricio hammering out the blast beats on the skins. Carlos maintains the heaviness on bass, and José coupled with Ingram on vocals create a murderous sound that would make any OSDM fan happy.

"No Forgiveness" is the second track on Dead Eyes, and it's every bit as destructive as the first. The highlight in my humble opinion is when The Scum slows the song down about halfway through, and when José reaches into his higher register for that disgusting scream I just sat back and thought, "yes, this is excellent."

While it's a short listen, Dead Eyes is a great indicator of what may be to come from The Scum. Fans of bands like Cannibal Corpse and Entombed would enjoy this. Check out the lyric video for "No Forgiveness" below!
