Wednesday Wrangling

Hey all, this is the start of a new weekly column. I will be highlighting some new releases with quick bites rather than going into full reviews for each. And with that, let's get into it, shall we?

Escrotos - Vivendo em Agonia

This is a tasty treat of Brazilian thrashcore, released on April, 4th. Since July of 2016, Escrotos has been doing their own blend of thrash metal themed around current events, which has gotten them heavy criticism. The tunes have a punky vibe to them, with gang vocals scattered throughout.

Avern - Witch's Eyes

Spanish band Avern is pumping out punk infused black metal, and their recent release Witch's Eyes is a short EP full of nasty riffs and demonic intent. Per their page, "We try to sound like Bathory's goat fucking with Pig Champion." Did they succeed? You decide.

Vulture Neck - Mountain Giant

Newcomers to the stoner rock scene, Vulture Neck, released their first proper release Mountain Giant on April the 5th. Rife with Kyuss and Monster Magnet worship, this is a decent first effort from the Stockholm trio.

Ethereal Sin - Kokuu

Hailing from Japan, Elegiac Black Metal band Ethereal Sin have returned with an EP full of their paganistic symphonic black metal destruction. It's a short listen to be sure, but you'll be revisiting it for repeat listens as there is much that is offered within the three tracks.

Kemerov - Black Right Hands/Anti-Hero Tights

Ending today's wrangling is Grecian death'n'rollers Kemerov with their new drop, Black Right Hands/Anti-Hero Tights. These two tracks fly by, and you'll be wanting more. Kemerov delivers a crushing form of punk infused death metal sounds that would fit in nicely with some Entombed.
